AAR June Rail Traffic Report
AAR has launched a new monthly video summary of its Rail Time Indicators report. Presented by a member of the associations policy and economics team, the video report highlights the impact that the US domestic economy is having on commodities moved by freight rail.

Traffic and a Commuter Rail Don’t Mix in Kirkland, WA
safe or practical. Here’s one of the busiest intersections this train line would cross and this is Sunday traffic, not commuter traffic! I can’t imagine the consequences of commuter trains coming through and blocking rush hour traffic. Local traffic will be negatively impacted. Studies have shown commuter rail lines are successful only if they can move quickly and not through intersections. The current rail line has a maximum speed of 25 miles an hour. Sound Transit Link Light Rail Ride – Rainier Beach to Tukwilia Int’l Blvd Sta
Just a normal ride, we pass some I-5 traffic and cruise the fastest portion of the line.

Link light rail zips past I-5 traffic
The benefits of an exclusive right of way free from any other traffic shows in this case. The train is shaking quite a bit but everyone’s happy in this air conditioned, congestion free ride on the hottest day in Seattle’s history.
