In the final edition of my Ice Road Blogging series, our luck runs out. Our beautiful weather and decent road conditions turn into an all out blizzard. A Phase One Travel Advisory had been issued before we left, but it had been changed to a Phase Two by the time we reached 40 miles outside of Prudhoe. 50 mile an hour sustained winds, and blowing snow followed us all the way in, and veteran driver Robert Pennick said the roads were the slickest he’s ever seen them in his tenure on the highway. It took us almost two hours to drive 40 miles. Check it out.
