Mitchell St. Construction Beginning
The Mitchell Street Improvement Project — it’s a project that’s been in the works for years, and now construction is finally starting. The first phase of the project runs from April 6 until about May 8, and involves the replacement of water mains, sewer mains, a railroad crossing and the road in general. This is the only phase of the project that will result in a detour for motorists. During Phase 1 of the Mitchell Street Improvement Project, through traffic will be re-routed off Mitchell Street and on to Lake and Chapin streets; local traffic will still be able to access Mitchell Street businesses. Once Phase 1 is complete, Mitchell Street will remain open during construction, though lane closures will occur at various times during the project.
