Halifax is not the only Atlantic Canadian city going through construction growing pains and urban sprawl problems.

St. John’s is turning into another Halifax as more residents are moving to satellite cities like Mount Pearl, Torbay, Topsail, Conception Bay South, and Kilbride. In addition, they are not making an effort to expand mass transit like Halifax.

As a former Haligonian turned Newfoundland “bayie”, I think the real problem with construction projects in Halifax is poor planning where constructions is done in many major arteries at one.

In addition, instead of investing more money in mass transit instead of rely on bus fare increases recently, they make the bad choices in widening major roadways like the infamous Chebucto Road widening project.

It will be worse this summer due to Fairview Overpass and MacDonald bridge construction.

Yeah it sucks… but I would rather have safe roads and stuff I think… the roads in Cape Breton are pretty bad :P

    • SpaceWars2025 says:

Yes, and its going to be worse this year with HRM pushing ½ million population.

QFT. Example, “Shawn Of The Dead” Intro. Except for munching on the living later, you really couldn’t tell the difference between the Living and Unliving ppl. :P

    • SpaceWars2025 says:

Yep. Dawn of the Dead (78). And TY Del for answering that. Goblin = one of the most unknown bands of prog rock from the 70s.

ya gotta love zombies, they exist more now than they have before.

    • PoLaRIV says:

Its like this everywhere tho lol

    • DelMinor says:

Yes it is, Goblin. Great prog. band from the 70s. It fits great in thehumble video. 4/5 … And I hope all these natural gas pipelines get installed soon… Halifax starting to look like a freeway.

    • NodDisciple1 says:

Wasn’t the music from a Romero zombie film? :?

    • petergonefar says:

well, the alternative is to let the city crumble and let the roads turn to gravel… I would let the construction crews do their thing. Brings money back into the city having work crews out there as well.

    • SpaceWars2025 says:

greater good of waht? haha.. more smog, more greedy people, more fatass bmws taking your parking spot?.. :D

      tx for commenting.

    • petergonefar says:

well, I havent lived in Hali or Darty for about a decade, but it seems like they are improving the city quite a bit, I mean, for the first time in like 30 years the area is doing well financially again… I would say grin and bear it for the greater good

    • DelMinor says:

      Nice….
